U.K.Target Shooting Organisations

The sport of target shooting involves the use of air rifles and pistols, muzzle-loading rifles and pistols and cartridge rifles, both rimfire and centrefire. Here follows a list of organisations involved in target shooting within the United Kingdom:

  1. The Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House
    The National organisation responsible for administration of safe firearms proof testing. There is also a museum for firearms and ammunition.

  2. Bisley Fullbore Chat Room
    A chat room for target rifle and other shooting enthusiasts to talk about their sport

  3. The British Shooting Sports Council
    An umbrella organisation representing the major shooting associations in the United Kingdom

  4. Cambridgeshire Fullbore Shooting Association
    The home of fullbore shooting in Cambridgeshire

  5. CSSC - Target Shooting Association
    The Civil Service Sports Council Target Association exists for current, former and retired Civil Servants who are interested or involved in target sports.

  6. Disabled Shooting and Air Pistol Shooting
    Great links to shooting sites. Good information about competitions and training in 10m Air Pistol. Good starting point for beginners

  7. Great Britain Rifle Team Canada Tour 2004
    Apply online, follow the team, learn about the sport. This is the official site for the Great Britain Rifle Team 2004 to Canada.

    An auction site for shooters' needs.

  9. The Internet Gun Club
    A worldwide forum for everyone interested in one or more of the shooting sports and the history of guns and gun makers.

  10. Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain
    The governing body for muzzle loading in the UK. Its objectives are to encourage an interest in muzzle loading firearms; to promote, regulate and safeguard their use; and to preserve their freedom of collection. See links for affiliated clubs

  15. NRA of Great Britain
    National Rifle Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The centre of excellence for shooters. Based at Bisley, Surrey, UK. See site links for UK clubs and associations.

  16. Oxfordshire Rifle Association

  24. Sportsman's Association is a shooting organisation which exists to fight for the restoration of target pistol shooting as a legitimate sport and for fair and effective firearms legislation.

     

    We also seek to defend shooting and other field sports against further unnecessary restriction by the authorities and to defend freedom of choice to pursue one's chosen sporting activity by:

    • Lobbying MPs, The Home Office & Parliament on behalf of our members.
    • Free advice on licensing matters to members of SAGBNI.
    • Free advice on game & deer stalking.
    • Postal competitions for both members & non-members.
    • Public liability insurance for members of SAGBNI.
    • Advice on firearms & ammunition.
    • Trade members offering discount to SAGBNI members.
